In alignment with the United Nations' global digital cooperation and sustainable development goals, and to foster digital transformation and innovative progress of society, in 2025, the World Internet of Things Convention designated the inaugural cohort of global demonstration cities for the intelligently interconnected digital economy, which received an enthusiastic response from the international community, including the United Nations.

To meet the demands for innovative growth in the digital economy across relevant countries and regions, we have officially launched the application and recommendation process for the 2026 Global Demonstration Cities for the Intelligently Interconnected Digital Economy. The application and recommendation will end by July 31, 2026. The selected enterprises will be officially announced during the 2026 World Internet of Things Convention, with the awarding of official licenses and certificates. This initiative aims to establish global benchmarks, enhance the international influence and socio-economic governance of cities, and drive the global transition toward intelligently interconnected digital economy. Furthermore, it serves as a strategic reference for the United Nations, national governments, and enterprises, ultimately supporting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

We welcome cities worldwide to apply through self-nomination, and invite national governments and international organizations to recommend candidates for the Global Demonstration Cities, securing a leading position in the global intelligently interconnected digital economy.
